MON Depart Los Angeles on United Airlines connecting in New York or Washington D.C. to South African Airways.
AUG. 16 ARRIVE JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
TUE Arrive at Oliver Tambo Int’l Airport. You will be met by your
guide and transferred to your 4.5-star hotel located in the heart of the
Sandton Court where everything you need is in short walking distance.

AUG 17 JOHANNESBURG DAY OF LEISURE
WED Today you will have a day of leisure to explore the Sandton area,
take pictures of the Nelson Mandela statue in the courtyard, visit the
wonderful shops, watch the entertainers in the square, enjoy the fitness
center in your hotel or play a round of golf at a near-by golf course.

AUG 18 SOWETO & APARTHEID MUSEUM
THU You will have a full day of touring Soweto (SOuth WEstern
TOwnship), the largest black residential area in South Africa. This
fascinating city within a city consists of 50 suburbs. This tour
includes all the major points of interest like Freedom Square, Hector
Peterson Memorial and Nelson Mandela’s former home, Winnie Mandela and
Bishop Tutu’s home. We will have lunch at the famous Wandies
Restaurant. Afternoon visit to the Apartheid Museum. You will come
away with an understanding of South Africa’s darkest days and brightest
triumphs

AUG 19 JOBURG TO LESEDI TO SUN CITY
FRI After breakfast we will drive less than an hour to Lesedi Cultural
Village. Here you will be entertained with song and dance and learn
about the different ethnic groups from clothing, to language, traditions
and homesteads. You will also have a delicious traditional lunch.
Then on to Sun City, a leisure vacation spot where everything is
available for your leisure pleasure. There cornucopia of sporting
facilities, from floodlit tennis courts, horseback riding, nature trails
and all water sports to a large man-made lake; and oh, did I mention
one of the largest casinos on the Southern Hemisphere? Now to top it
off, add an 18-hole championship golf course to challenge all types of
golfers.

AUG 20 SUN CITY TO PILANESBERG NATIONAL PARK
SAT Just a short distance away is your Safari Lodge. All the comforts
await you. In late afternoon/evening we will take our first open-air
game drive. With luck we will see all of the big 5(Lion, black &
white Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard). Pilanesberg National Park
is malaria-free

AUG 21 PILANESBERG NATIONAL PARK
SUN Enjoy a very early morning open vehicle game drive. The rest of
the day is at leisure to relax around the rock swimming pool. Go hot-sir
ballooning or visit the nearby Sun City complex, a mere 10 minutes away
by shuttle. In late afternoon go on another game drive

AUG 22 PILANESBERG TO CAPE TOWN
MON Early morning departure for Johannesburg Airport to take your
flight to Cape Town. Check in to your hotel located in the heart of the
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town’s center of Activity. In
the afternoon you will make your way to the Clock tower dock for your
boat ride to Robben Island. For almost 400 years, Robin Island was a
place of banishment. People regarded as troublemakers, social outcasts
and freedom fighters, such as Nelson Mandela spent more than a quarter
of a century in prison for their beliefs. The Robben Island Museum
tours Department includes some ex-political prisoners who are tour
guides

TUE Day of leisure; or do that last minute shopping to pick up those gifts for friends and loved ones.

AUG 24 CAPE TOWN “WALK TO FREEDOM TOUR”
WED “No easy road to freedom” was a central theme in most of the Mass
Democratic Movement campaigns from the early days to the late 1980’s.
This tour is not to be missed. This tour offers a wealth of insight into
South African history You will visit the Bo-Kaap/Malay Quarter
District Six, Townships and Cape Flats. Our last stop will be
Khayelitsha as well as Langa. We will have lunch at Lelapa Restaurant
where you will get the rest of the story.

AUG 25 CAPE TOWN DAY OF LEISURE
THU You are going to love the shops, activities and restaurant on the
waterfront just a 5 min. walk from your hotel. This is another day for
golfers.

AUG 26 CAPE TOWN TO JOBURG TO WASHINGTON OR NEW YORK
FRI There is a souvenir shop right behind the hotel where you can buy
very unusual items and gifts for friends and loved ones and the prices
are right. Later you will transfer to the airport for your flight to
Johannesburg where you will connect to your international flight home.

SAT After going through immigrations, you will connect to your flight back to Los Angeles. Welcome home.
